Amy Williams, Emerson's counselor, is on-site on Mondays, Tuesdays, and every other Wednesday to work with students,  families, and staff.

Elementary school years set the tone for developing skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for children to become healthy, productive citizens.  With a comprehensive developmental program, the school counselor works with school staff, families, and the community to create a caring atmosphere where children’s needs are met through prevention, early identification, and intervention. 

Counseling Services:

  • Connecting families with mental health services
  • Student counseling
  • Middle School matriculation
  • Character education and social emotional learning
  • Student Success Team (SST) meetings
  • Special Education,  Individual Education Plans (IEP's), and 504 plans
  • Behavior strategies
  • Crisis counseling
  • Student goals and action plans
  • Coordinating testing (GATE, SBAC, ELPAC, etc.)

  • Providing a place to talk about school concerns
  • Developing stronger interpersonal and social skills
  • Improving attitudes about school and learning
  • Making reasoned decisions and developing effective problem solving skills
